St. Paul Vocal Forum performs here on May 3 The Saint Paul Vocal Forum is a 34-voice choir directed by David Ryan Moberg. They'll be performing in our worship space on Saturday, May 3 at 7:30 pm, presenting another in their series of "choral forums" -- this one entitled Fear and Love. The concert focuses on the topics of fear, as the underlying impetus for hatred and racism, and love, as the antidote to fear. The SPVF is collaborating with spoken word artist LaTisha Jones, who will be performing her own poetry and performance pieces throughout the program. LaTisha is a teacher/activist/organizer and MC in the Twin Cities, and is nationally known for her powerful, emotional works and for her compelling delivery. Music includes works from a wide spectrum of styles and eras including Lewis Allan, Pablo Casals, Bob Chilcott, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Giuseppe Verdi and Eric Whitacre. The concert is free and open to the public. Freewill donations will be accepted at the door. "Mary Day" celebrates the Mother of Jesus In the Catholic tradition, the month of May is a special time to celebrate the Virgin Mary. At. St. Albert's, we offer an annual morning of prayer, song, reflection, story and ritual exploring the many aspects of Mary's life and role. Wednesday, May 14, all are welcome to join the celebration in the Social Hall, beginning with sign-in and light refreshments at 8:45 and the program from 9 to 11 am. Please call in your reservation by Monday, May 12 so that we have sufficient materials on hand. Call 612-724-3643. Rummage Sale here June 5 through 8 Plan to donate now to St. Albert's Spring Rummage Sale. We can start accepting items on Saturday, May 31 from 2 to 5 pm, and Sunday, June 1 from 9 am to noon. Clothing and accessories, housewares, books, CDs, videos, DVDs, furniture, toys, craft items, collectibles, sporting goods, bikes, gardening tools... if it's clean, in good working order and with all its parts, we'll try to sell it! We're looking for volunteers to help sort, price and display items on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in shifts from 8 to noon, noon to 4 and 4 to 8 pm. Pick the area that interests you and have fun preparing the sale. On Thursday, June 5 from 5 to 8 pm, the sale begins with a $2 entry fee Preview Sale. On Saturday and Sunday, the sale runs from 9 am to 7 pm. (Furniture and larger items will be sold weather-protected in the rear parking lot rather than in the Social Hall.) On Sunday, June 8, get your last-minute "Bargain in a Bag:" $2 for all you can fit in a grocery bag, $5 for all you can fit in a yard-size trash bag. Do your part to recycle useful items into new homes!
A Loving Option for
Worshipers with Small Children Those parents can trust their children to the loving, capable care of parishioners Robbie Newberg, Robin Dusterhoft and their helpers during Mass. Parents also can come down to the comfy furniture in the child care area of the Social Hall to feed or comfort fretful children, as the Mass can be heard through small speakers in the nursery. There is no charge for this service.
