Ministry
to Seniors
The eldest members of our parish family sometimes have special needs. We work to be alert to those needs and try to meet them. Here are some of the ways we currently do that:
Pastoral care: The parish staff
includes a coordinator who
- along with the pastor - keeps track of and ministers to the needs of aged members of the community, and helps keep them connected with St. Albert's when circumstances prevent them from regularly attending parish functions. The coordinator,
Barbara Roban, can be reached at the Parish Center, 612-724-3643.
BeFrienders:
The parish trains and commissions lay ministers to reach out to individuals whose illness, frailty or other circumstances greatly restrict their interaction with others in their community.
| Transportation:
Thanks to a generous grant from the Pax
Christi Catholic Community in Eden
Prairie, St. Albert's now leases an 11
passenger micro-bus! Volunteers transport
senior parishioners and those with
mobility issues to and from weekend liturgies and some special occasions.
The bus has a center aisle and plenty of
head room so passengers can walk upright
to their seats. There's also an
elevator lift for those with walkers or
wheelchairs! For more information about this
special service, please call the Parish Center, 612-724-3643.

Creative Ageless Women: This group gathers on Wednesday mornings to work on ceramics, play cards, share meals, enjoy field trips, celebrate birthdays, exchange recipes and jokes, pray for those who are ill, and support each other through the transitions of life elders face.
For more information, please call
Phyllis Shoemaker at the Parish Center, 612-724-3643.
Senior Cards: On the first and third Tuesdays
of each month, this group gathers in the Social Hall in church basement
from 12:30 to 3 pm to play "500" and share refreshments. All are welcome.
